ANIMAL COMMUNICATION
First and foremost, the foundational premise of Animal Communication acknowledges the sentience, consciousness and intelligence of the vast non-human world, including the earth herself. Our relationships with this world can never be the same once this recognition settles into our awareness.
We freely acknowledge that communication exists with those furred, scaled and feathered beings who choose to live with us. We note their preferences-in food, activities, sleeping places; their emotions and moods-their irritations, which persons they prefer, their devoted love and nurturance and tolerance of our foibles. They also have much more to add- insights and a native knowledge which they are happy and willing to share with us…if only we would ask. Then most essentially, without expectations, we listen with all of our senses open. We shift and change as we allow their perspectives and wisdom to impact our daily lives.
My goal as an Interspecies Communicator is to open a heart-centered conversational dialog to assist animals and humans in creating a harmonious multi-species household. The non-human world has differing sensory systems than the typical human senses. In order to communicate effectively, it is necessary for us to suspend our preconceived notions (i.e. human biased) of how, for instance, a freshly caught rabbit tastes to a hawk, or cat poop to a dog (Yum, caviar!). I ask my human clients to gather their questions together before our scheduled consult. The questions can be about physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and/or relationship issues concerning their animal companions. I remind the human not to ask a question they either don’t really want to know the answer to or are not willing to change their ways for. For instance: if you are intent on showing a particular dog, don’t ask her if she likes it or wants to keep it up unless you are willing to stop if she ‘says’ she hates it.
Since consciousness survives the transition called ‘death’, it does not matter whether the animal is currently in body or has passed on. I ask/send the animals the questions and open my senses to receive their answers in a variety of ways-I see pictures, I hear their words, I feel, taste, smell their experiencing of their world view. Sometimes, I simply know directly. I ask for help or clarification just as we do with human conversations. I ask for divine guidance and support for our efforts. Most importantly, I honor my animal client by courageously telling the human partner whatever I am receiving, no matter how odd or “weird” it may seem with a minimum of interpretation on my part, whether it makes sense to me or not!!
Humans have primarily followed the solitary path of spoken and written language i.e. words to the extent that we denigrate non-spoken language and teach children to ignore the natural non-verbal language and intuitive knowings with which we are all born. This species/cultural bias has stunted the natural exploration, development and flowering of our intrinsic ability to communicate with those beings who do not share our same amazingly versatile vocal chords. It also pulls us out of the now and into ‘futuring’ or ‘pasting’. Animals only live in the now. If we wish to hear their voices, we need to be in the now as well. Meditation techniques support our living more fully in the present moment as it is all any of us truly have.
As a child, I communicated freely and effortlessly with our horses and the many woodland creatures around me, not knowing that this was considered an unusual talent. Others simply said, “she has a way with animals.” As an adult, I had to diligently remove the emotional barriers preventing me from once again ‘hearing’ their voices with my child’s ease.
I believe we can all reclaim our birthright to communicate naturally with this marvelous, delightful world.
